  1.  Brew: Create a brewery on the first floor and allow the other floors to continue with the current programs- rehearsal spaces, artist studios and fashion production. Additionally, create bike parking for the planned LA River trail and activate the ground plane with hardscape.

  2. Carve:  Cut open the floor plates and take out the volumes from the 3 large spaces being created. Additionally, carve the entry to the large area as well as the small indoor venue as well as the opening that goes to the backstage. Begin renovation on office spaces for temporary rental spaces for startups and small businesses.

  3. Expand: Surrounding sites are repurposed into supporting programs such as retail, hotels, housing and artist studios to bring life to the area.

  4. Project: Extrude/project stages and through circulation blocks as well as VIP Lounge to create a connection between the river and the new town square area.

 

The goal of the project is to connect the downtown Arts District to the Boyle Heights community by activating the industrial area along the LA River. This project is proposed in 4 steps to remodel an old factory in order to activate the space.
